The Real Estate Technology & Transformation Center (RETTC) is a new affiliate organization of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), the leading membership organization for multifamily executives. Position Summary

Ready to get behind the scenes of one of the biggest, boldest events in real estate tech? RETTC is looking for a sharp, energetic intern to join the team behind OPTECH—the multifamily industry’s can't-miss event for technology, innovation, marketing, and operations.

With 3,000+ senior-level attendees, 200+ tech exhibitors, and three days of high-impact programming, OPTECH is the premier event for anyone who’s anyone in real estate tech. As Event Program & Marketing Intern, you'll help plan and power everything from speaker sessions to space activations and help coordinate a multi-channel marketing campaign. It’s hands-on, fast-paced, and full of opportunities to learn how top-tier events come to life—from strategy to execution.

What You’ll Do:

  • Be part of our planning huddles—bring ideas for elevating content, engagement, and the attendee experience.
  • Coordinate with speakers: draft emails, schedule prep calls, and help keep timelines on track.
  • Manage session logistics and speaker materials using internal planning tools and grids.
  • Research fresh companies, tech trends, and industry leaders making waves in multifamily real estate.
  • Support cross-functional teams with communications, data, and behind-the-scenes magic.
  • Help review and polish web, email, and social media content tied to OPTECH.
  • (Optional but awesome) Pitch in onsite at the event—think speaker check-in, session flow, and VIP-level attendee care.
  • Take on special projects as needed—we love a self-starter.

What You Bring:

  • A love for checklists, calendars, and color-coded docs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with execs, creatives, and everyone in between.
  • A curious, collaborative mindset and a get-it-done attitude.
  • Interest in real estate, technology, innovation, or marketing and event management.
  • Bonus points for a creative eye for visuals or social content, experience with marketing and social tools, Google Workspace, Hubspot, MS Office, and other project management tools.

Requirements and Compensation:

This is a paid internship. The Event Program & Marketing Intern must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours/week on a consistent schedule. RETTC offers hourly compensation and can coordinate with academic institutions for credit if needed. 

Ability to be part of the team through OPTECH, which takes place in mid-November, with potential for travel to the event. 

This position is based in Washington, DC in a hybrid work environment.
