Internship Overview
The Gloucester Health Department is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented summer intern to support our substance use prevention and mental health promotion efforts. This internship will focus on analyzing Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) data to develop Positive Community Norms campaigns aimed at preventing youth substance use and promoting mental health resources. The intern will work closely with the Regional Youth Prevention Network and other stakeholders to translate data findings into impactful community outreach initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret YRBS data to identify trends and insights related to youth substance use and mental health.
- Develop Positive Community Norms campaigns using data-driven messaging to promote healthy behaviors.
- Assist in designing outreach materials, including social media posts, flyers, and presentations.
- Collaborate with the Regional Youth Prevention Network to ensure alignment with regional prevention efforts.
- Present findings and recommendations to the Gloucester Health Department and community partners.
- Participate in meetings and community events to engage with stakeholders and promote prevention initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a public health, social sciences, communications, or related program.
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with survey data.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Interest in substance use prevention, mental health access, and public health initiatives.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Experience with graphic design or social media content creation is a plus.
