Quality Engineer Intern

Metalex /National Metalwares, Aurora, IL is looking for a Quality Engineer Intern for this summer. This intern will assist in performing time studies on various manufacturing equipment throughout the plant. Prepare and present results of the studies. Help organize manufacturing tooling by labeling the tooling and creating mater lists. Assist in evaluating processes from lean manufacturing perspective and report on suggestions. Update and/or create procedures, work instructions, and/or forms. 

This will be a paid student internship that will provide relevant skills in both a multi-site manufacturing and business unit environment. This intern will report to the Qualty Engineering Manager.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Monitor performance using quality metrics and KPIs to identify issues in the production process.
  • Monitor the quality of employee training and the safety standards required in the manufacturing process.
  • Document standard inspection plans.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and production teams to update procedures and processes.
  • Assists Quality team in daily root cause problem solving.
  • Contribute to various quality continuous improvement projects.
  • Evaluate processes through data driven stats 
  • Complete any other duties as directed by Manager.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and solid models.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams to solve problems.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage numerous projects and priorities at once
  • Gain experience doing basic programming for manipulating data

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • Undergraduate student currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be good in Mathematics.
  • Good organizational skills, reading/writing/documentation, basic Excel experience, and attention to detail.

 

 Position Requirements 

Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering. 

Class level: Junior or Senior. 

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). 

Knowledge of other software applications such as SAP, Teams, AutoCAD/Solidworks is preferred. 

Must be able to work onsite in Aurora , Illinois and have reliable transportation.
