## About Voice Up
Voice Up is a grassroots organization founded in November 2024 focused on raising awareness about mental and behavioral health among communities of color. In just six months, we've reached 1,075 cities across 49 countries through our word-of-mouth approach and commitment to connecting people to purpose.
## The Make the Difference Network
We're launching an innovative 24/7/365 grassroots digital media network focused exclusively on mental and behavioral health awareness. The network will feature diverse perspectives, personal stories, and expert insights, with dedicated sections for athletes, entrepreneurs, and faith leaders. This initiative includes a quarterly publication highlighting stories of individuals making meaningful differences in their communities to improve access to mental health support.
## Internship Tracks
We offer three specialized internship tracks to help build content for the Make the Difference Network:
### Track 1: Sports Journalism for Mental Health Awareness
For those passionate about sports and mental health advocacy, helping athletes share their authentic experiences and perspectives.
### Track 2: Entrepreneurship and Small Business Leadership
For aspiring small business leaders and entrepreneurs interested in exploring the connection between mental wellness and successful business practices.
### Track 3: Faith Leadership and Community Wellness
For future faith leaders focused on sharing the Good News of Faith, Love, Forgiveness, and the Power of God's Love while addressing mental health needs in faith communities.
## Key Responsibilities (All Tracks):
- Conduct interviews with community members in your track focus area
- Develop written content for our quarterly publication and daily network programming
- Create engaging multimedia content connecting mental health to your area of focus
- Collaborate with our team to build innovative approaches to mental health communication
- Participate in weekly virtual coaching sessions and Saturday practice meetings
- Contribute ideas for expanding our content and outreach
## Track-Specific Responsibilities:
### Sports Track:
- Interview athletes about their mental health journeys
- Cover the intersection of sports performance and mental wellness
- Highlight athlete-led mental health initiatives
### Entrepreneurship Track:
- Explore how mental health practices contribute to business success
- Document stories of entrepreneurs overcoming mental health challenges
- Develop resources for maintaining wellness while building a business
### Faith Leadership Track:
- Share stories of faith communities supporting mental health
- Explore the intersection of spiritual wellness and mental health
- Develop content that shares the Good News while addressing mental wellness needs
## Qualifications:
- Passion for your selected track and mental health advocacy
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Ability to tell stories authentically and respectfully
- Commitment to our five core principles: collaboration, humility, precision, patience, and empathy
- Willingness to participate in weekly team meetings and Saturday practice sessions
- Consistency and reliability in meeting commitments
## Our Structure:
- Weekly 10-15 minute check-in with a dedicated coach
- One-hour Saturday "practice" sessions (choose from three time slots to accommodate different time zones)
- Collaborative project work with guidance from experienced mentors
- Regular opportunities to see your work featured on our platforms
