Growth Strategy Analyst Intern

Growth Strategy Analyst Intern

Compensation: Unpaid

Role Overview

At BetSmart, we’re building a smarter, more data-native sports betting platform powered by advanced analytics and strategic clarity. As a Growth Strategy Analyst Intern, you’ll work cross-functionally across business development, product, and marketing to uncover opportunities, shape high-leverage initiatives, and directly influence revenue expansion and user acquisition.

We’re looking for individuals who thrive at the intersection of business insight and quantitative rigor — problem-solvers who have pursued highly demanding academic fields such as business, finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, physics, or philosophy, and want to apply that mindset in a fast-moving startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

Market Research & Opportunity Analysis

  • Conduct deep research into industry trends, customer behavior, and the competitive landscape.
  • Identify whitespace opportunities across new channels, verticals, and user segments.
  • Quantify market sizing, partner potential, and channel-specific unit economics.

Strategy Development & Go-to-Market

  • Support go-to-market planning and execution, including partnership strategy and user acquisition models.
  • Build structured frameworks and financial models to evaluate ROI, customer LTV, and CAC across campaigns.
  • Assist with positioning, pricing strategy, and segmentation recommendations.

Performance Tracking & Insights

  • Analyze key metrics across growth, product, and marketing funnels to diagnose bottlenecks and identify improvement areas.
  • Build dashboards and visual reports to track OKRs and performance benchmarks.
  • Evaluate A/B test results and experimentation data to support rapid iteration cycles.

Strategic Projects

  • Work on cross-functional initiatives that improve operational efficiency, retention, and monetization.
  • Contribute to product-market fit evaluation and geographic or demographic expansion planning.
  • Help define KPIs for new initiatives and recommend scalable solutions to accelerate traction.

Technical Skills & Plus Areas

Required Foundation

  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and business modeling frameworks.
  • Experience analyzing data and translating insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to clearly communicate strategic findings across functions and stakeholders.

Bonus Expertise

  • Familiarity with SQL or business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
  • Exposure to CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce) or GTM tools.
  • Prior experience in high-performance environments like strategy consulting, investment banking, or early-stage startups.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in a rigorous academic discipline such as business, finance, economics, engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or philosophy.
  • Demonstrated ability to think structurally, execute independently, and synthesize complex information.
  • Experience working on strategy, analysis, or growth projects in a team or academic setting.
  • Passionate about startups, technology, and applying first-principles thinking to strategic growth.

What We Offer

  • Strategic Impact: Your work will directly influence user acquisition, revenue acceleration, and strategic direction.
  • Autonomy: Operate as a true thought partner with full ownership over research, analysis, and experimentation.
  • Learning: Work closely with high-caliber founders and operators in a high-velocity, feedback-rich environment.
  • Future Opportunity: High-performing interns may be offered paid roles or long-term strategic positions.
