Communications Intern
Internship Overview
Single Parent Provision (SPP) is seeking a part-time Communications intern to assist the Communications Manager in marketing and communication efforts to help further our mission. This internship is an excellent opportunity to better understand communication in the non-profit world and gain hands-on experience through project-driven learning. Qualified candidates will have good time management; the ability to work both independently and with a team; and are committed to performing tasks and projects well to future the mission of SPP.
Reports to: Communications and Finance Manager
Start and End Dates: Summer (June-August)
Hours: Part-Time; M-F 15-20 hours/week; occasional nights and weekends required
Compensation: $50/week stipend
Location: Onsite at our office; hybrid option possible, if needed
About Single Parent Provision
SPP is a consistent presence in the lives of single parents and their families providing intentional care, practical supports, and pathways for single parents to grow in faith and community. Our mission is to glorify God by partnering with single parents to help strengthen their lives and the lives of their families. We provide a variety of programs, services, resources, and events for single parents and their families.
Responsibilities & Duties (including but not limited to):
- Assist in planning, creating, and managing content and graphics for external communications including social media, email blasts, and newsletters
- Design and update digital and print materials for events and programs
- Capture, edit, and organize photos and videos at programs, events, and office
- Assist in maintaining our website including reviewing, updating, and proposing edits to webpages
- Collaborate with Communications Manager on brainstorming ideas for promotional and event-related communication and design
- Collect, organize, and manage quotes to be used on various media platforms
- Participate in planning and brainstorming event ideas with Communications Manager and other involved staff
- Attend communication and team meetings; prepare project updates, weekly plans, and questions
- Complete 1-2 large projects determined at the start of the internship
Qualifications and Expectations
- Education: pursuing a college degree (sophomore and up) or be a recent graduate in a related field (e.g. Communications, Digital Marketing, English, Graphic Design).
- Experience creating content for business/organization for various social media platforms and other digital communications
- Excellent writing skills
- Self-starter able to work both independently with limited direction as well as collaboratively within a team setting
- Creative thinking skills
- Strong prioritization and time management skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Canva, and Adobe Suite is beneficial but not required
- Related work or volunteer experience is beneficial but not required
- Must be in agreement with, sign, and abide by SPP’s statement of faith
