Summer Bridge Residential Mentor
Basic Function: To support Choose Ohio First Summer Bridge Scholars during evening hours while they reside on campus, fostering a safe, inclusive, and academically supportive residential environment for first-year students.
Summer Housing Requirements: Applicants will be required to reside on campus in the Exchange Residence Hall.
Examples of Duties: Serves as a mentor to first-year students by providing guidance, support, and encouragement. Aids in the supervision and coordination of evening enrichment activities and contributes to a safe and inclusive living environment. Monitors students’ personal development, submits regular reports, and offers recommendations as needed. Participates in weekly residence hall staff meetings and performs additional duties as assigned by program staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Energetic and enthusiastic demeanor
- Minimum status of undergraduate junior
- Must provide an official transcript at the time of interview
- Demonstrated experience interacting with and supporting culturally diverse populations
- Proven record of academic achievement
- Willingness to participate in engagement days alongside administrative staff and students
- Ability to confidently lead and guide students across campus
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience working with high school and/or college students in academic or extracurricular settings.
Additional experience in a residential or housing capacity, contributing to a supportive and safe living environment.
Will have successfully completed four semesters of full-time college enrollment by May 15, 2025.
Maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, reflecting strong academic performance and time management skills.
Working Schedule: This position will fall between June 6th – August 2, 2025, and requires residing in the residence halls with the students throughout the program. Shifts for this position will typically be 6:00pm – 11pm Monday – Thursday, with up to 28 hours per week. Attendance is required at mandatory staff training, student orientation, and the summer bridge closing program, which all occur between June 8th – August 2nd. Dates and times to be determined.
Additional Information: This is a short-term, seasonal summer student employment position, does not accumulate vacation time, and is contingent upon receipt of state funding. Some meals will be provided per grant regulations. Finalists are required to pass FBI and BCI background checks.

UA student employees must be 18 years or older at the time of their start date. Any approved remote work conducted by student employees MUST be performed within the state of Ohio.
