Enterprise Collaborations Group Analyst

Job Description:

UC Irvine’s Beall Applied Innovation (BAI) bridges the gap between academic research and industry application, supporting commercialization, entrepreneurship, and public-private partnerships. Through initiatives like the Enterprise Collaboration Group, BAI fosters innovation by connecting university research with real-world impact, enabling startups, faculty, and industry partners to thrive.

The Analyst will work closely with the ECG team to support research, documentation, and development of strategic projects. The role emphasizes cross-sector collaboration, storytelling, and the use of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence.

Looking for individuals to work full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year. Role duration can vary depending on student's time to graduation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Industry Alliances, Enterprise Collaboration Group, and other teams to identify UCI research assets that align with industry partner needs in fields such as health, sustainability, artificial intelligence, and media.
  • Conduct market and industry research using platforms like PitchBook, Elsevier, and emerging AI tools (ChatGPT, HeyGen, Runway, RAG frameworks) to understand trends, identify partnership opportunities, and prepare briefing materials.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of internal tools—such as a campus-wide API portal—to make research assets more discoverable and accessible.
  • Help organize and support collaborative initiatives involving faculty, startups, industry partners, and community organizations.
  • Transform complex research findings into clear, visually engaging deliverables using PowerPoint, PowerBI, and other visualization tools.
  • Contribute to the early-stage development of projects like the Narr.A.I.tive Initiative, exploring how AI and storytelling can drive public impact.
  • Support internal documentation, meeting notes, shared resources management, and the digitization of collaborative efforts.
  • Explore and recommend innovative tools to improve workflows, storytelling, and engagement strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong research, critical thinking, and synthesis skills, with the ability to analyze academic and industry materials and distill key insights.
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with PowerBI, collaboration platforms (e.g., Monday.com, CRMs), or research databases is a plus.
  • Exposure to AI platforms such as ChatGPT (preferably ChatGPT Plus), HeyGen, Runway, or familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks.
  • Interest in innovation ecosystems, AI, technology transfer, and the intersection of academia and industry.
  • Ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and work independently or as part of a dynamic, cross-functional team.
