We're looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team for the analysis of quality control data. This position requires the candidate to be comfortable with basic statistics and the ability to interpret data and results. The ideal candidate will also be proficient in Microsoft Office. Quality Engineer Plays an integral role in the overall quality management/kaizen activities for the responsible product groups by working in a cross-functional team environment as well as focused individual work. Responsible for customer liaison, supplier quality management & inline product/process quality.
Engineering Skills (General day-to-day functions):
1. Automotive Industry Background Preferred
1.1.Completely understand the process of Advance Product Quality Planning (AIAG standards) to successfully support the organization to launch a new program from design to manufacturing phase. This requires complete understanding of the customer drawings and finalization of feasibility requirements. Excellent understanding of project management for on time submission of required documents.
1.2. Basic understanding of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new and existing programs to document and report new product feasibility and engineering controls for smooth launch of products. Utilizing tools such as DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, Flow charts, GR&Rs, Capability analysis for customer critical items, detailed product layouts, and understanding customer specific requirements.
1.3. Develop inspection standards with special emphasis on control term testing for safe launch period, statistical monitoring of performance of items through physical and dimensional properties of product by utilizing trend charts for seasonal affects and identifying variation of individual machines.
1.4.Manage and control life cycle of new products from design validation to product validation, submission of PPAP documentation and, monitoring safe launch activities during production to develop special control for maintaining statistical process control. This covers reaction points for 2 sigma and 3 sigma levels.
2. General Quality Engineering Fundamentals
2.1.Able to understand the fundamental concept of Geometric dimensioning and tolerance and basic understanding of product inspection/validation from receiving of components, to different process and meeting customer specific requirements through final inspection.
2.2.Proficient in problem solving utilizing 5-why analysis and 8D problem reporting for supporting customer claims, to sustain current internal processes by eliminating repeat issues. Complete understanding of process control such as Poke Yokes for preventing root and release cause items. Able to handle containment at customer location, understanding in transit shipment requirements and simultaneously verifying finished and in process products.
2.3.Ability to handle various suppliers, issue complaints, drives improvement actions and review/approve their 8D reports.
2.4. Experience and good understanding of Statistics, Design of Experiment (DOE), Correlation studies, Six Sigma and lean manufacturing tools to continuously implement Kaizen activities for continuous improvement.
2.5.Review product quality data on a regular basis & provide feedback to manufacturing/PE teams for improving the process capability.
2.6. Ability to analyze contracts, purchase orders, invoices, quotes, engineering drawings etc. 2.7. IATF 16949 / ISO 14001 knowledge is preferred to perform internal audits for both quality & environmental standards & also supplier audits on a regular basis. Handle external non-conformances from IATF/ISO audits and provide corrective actions. NAMI QA
3. Special functions
3.1.Quality engineering job is very dynamic and the daily functions will be highly changing based on the external/internal requirements.
3.2.Able to manage multiple projects, prioritize & complete on time
3.3.Work with Engineering/Sales/R&D/SCM team on new project quotations, process costing calculations, design/development of the products.
General Skills & Requirements:

b. Knowledge of manufacturing systems is necessary
c. Coordinate activities with the Quality Engineering Manager as well as all other Managers/Directors
d. Able to successfully coordinate a multitude of projects simultaneously
e. Must be professional, matured, flexible, and able to respond to multiple pressures
f. Must be flexible in various types of work assignments to be completed
g. Able to write scope of work, specifications, and procedures as needed
h. Will participate in meetings and also report problems to management verbally or in writing
i. Able to perform general administrative duties
j. Must accurately maintain documents, electronic files and general organization of the work
k. Must be proficient in computer programs such as Minitab, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
l. Will follow the company’s standards and guidelines for maintaining quality, cost, and safety
m. Will maintain professional and technical knowledge by attaining related certifications and training
n. May be required to travel for business and work beyond normal business hours when necessary
Physical Requirements: -Quality Engineering is a combination of desk job & practical on-hands job -Must be able to regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
Education: - Master’s degree in science or engineering (Industrial or Mechanical) is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering is a must. Any quality or lean six sigma certifications will be a plus. - A minimum of 2-3 years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred - Fresh graduates without experience can also be considered if they have strong academic understanding of quality concept
