ABOUT THE Division

 

General description

We’re looking for an experienced Geographic Information System Analyst to join our team in the Information Technology division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing, developing, and deploying GIS solutions for both internal business divisions as well as public facing sites. Your day-to-day will involve every aspect of managing a modern enterprise GIS system, integrating standard geo formats, creating ArcGIS web services and publishing to ArcGIS Online (AGOL). This position will be part of a team of people who are collaborative, adaptable, and dedicated to delivering highly secure, best in class solutions. You would be a great fit for this role if you’re a dynamic, self-motivated individual that can estimate and deliver project tasks in an Agile environment, all while working with a variety of teams.

 

Work Hours

8-hour work schedule between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm, 40-hour week, Monday – Friday with occasional work schedule variance as necessary.  May occasionally work evenings, weekends, or holiday.  Hours may change based on business need.  

Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must have permanent residency within the state of Texas and must be able to meet in office requirements, which can vary among different sections (i.e., report to office one day/month, three days/week, etc.). Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• Five (5) years of experience in geographic information systems analysis and design work.

 


Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, geography, geographic information systems technology, management information systems or a related field.
• Two (2) years of experience working with ArcGIS Pro desktop software, ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online.

 


Substitution

One (1) additional year of experience performing geographic information systems and design work may substitute for thirty (30) semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).

 


Licenses/Certifications (Preferred)

GISP (Certified GIS Professional)

 

 

SUMMARY OF PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires the employee primarily to perform sedentary office work. It requires extensive computer, telephone and some client/customer contact. The job requires normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina and cognitive ability to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Marginal or corrected visual and auditory abilities are required for reading printed materials and computer screens and communicating with internal and external customers. May require moving up to 25 lbs. of office equipment or other material on a limited basis. The position may require air and ground travel to other locations, as necessary.

Employees are required to use their personal mobile phones as a part of 2 factor/multi factor authentication for accessing CPA systems securely. You will also receive critical/emergency calls/texts on your cell phone to ensure immediate communication.

 

 

In this role you will: 

• Creates and reviews maps, graphs and diagrams using geographic information software and related equipment. Evaluates information and data from outside sources, determines the quality of the data and converts data to web-based maps. Develops geographic information systems that may link parcel maps with financial data and other data to produce maps and quantify information about the impacts of features on parcel ownership.
• Writes programs, develops user interfaces and menus to meet user needs. Oversees the entry and validation of database records for accurate GIS maps produced by divisions.
• Coordinates and helps oversee the uploading of map files to agency websites with Web Team members and other agency personnel.
• Provides customer service, troubleshooting problems associated with GIS solutions
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
