About EndoMD Health:
EndoMD Health is a technology-enabled platform delivering personalized pediatric endocrinology care through a hybrid virtual and in-person model. We address the critical shortage of pediatric endocrinologists in the US. As a startup, we currently serve patients in Virginia and Maryland, but plan to expand nation-wide! Our mission is simple: Helping kids with endocrine conditions thrive.
Position Overview:
We’re looking for a proactive and data-driven Data Scientist Intern to support our growth, outreach, and long-term AI development efforts. This role is ideal for someone excited to apply data science to real-world healthcare problems—particularly in underserved pediatric populations. You will focus on sourcing and analyzing external datasets, mapping pediatric care landscapes, and identifying data assets suitable for future model training (e.g., risk prediction, triage support, outreach targeting).
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and analyze public health and population data (e.g., CDC, CMS, HRSA, SDOH) to understand pediatric endocrine needs
- Identify and map pediatricians, clinics, and referral networks for strategic outreach
- Clean and structure external datasets related to healthcare delivery, demographics, and insurance coverage
- Search for or assemble open datasets that could support future machine learning models (e.g., patient stratification, demand forecasting, clinical triage)
- Summarize findings in actionable, visual formats for business and clinical teams
- Collaborate with the founding team to shape EndoMD’s data strategy and roadmap
What You’ll Gain:
- Experience in healthcare data strategy at an early-stage, mission-driven startup
- Exposure to real-world data across population health, provider mapping, and AI readiness
- Mentorship from experienced leaders in pediatric care, analytics, and entrepreneurship
- Opportunities to present insights that directly influence business and clinical priorities
- A strong portfolio of work relevant to healthtech, AI, and public health careers
Ideal Candidate:
- Currently pursuing a degree in data science, computer science, public health, economics, or a related field
- Skilled in Python, R, or SQL; experience with Excel, Tableau, or Jupyter a plus
- Able to navigate and clean messy, multi-source datasets
- Curious, self-directed, and excited by healthcare innovation
- Bonus: experience with machine learning model development or healthcare-specific datasets (e.g., FHIR, CPT/ICD codes, claims, or EHR data)
