Waterfront Director

Hello from Camp Washington in Connecticut!!

We are currently searching for a Waterfront Director to round out our summer leadership staff. A bit about the job description is posted below. We will train folks to be the Director portion, and while this is a seasonal position, I would love to work with our person to get them a year-round position at a different center in the Episcopal Camping World!!

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Waterfront Director is a specialized role designed to oversee Camp Washington’s waterfront; this includes waterfront policy, procedures, materials maintenance, staffing, risk management, and ensuring the waterfront is a vital part of our programming. This position acts as head authority in a Lifeguarding capacity, and is hands on in creating and enforcing a safe experience for campers and staff. It is worth noting this position has some supervision responsibilities that gear the role towards Administrative staff. As with all leadership, this staff member is responsible for the general safety and wellbeing of campers and staff, and when not directly engaged in the work above, will step into the camp program to assist with the facilitation of a session and development of campers.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Desire and ability to work with and teach children and young adults in the outdoors, specifically at the waterfront. // Ability to accept supervision and guidance. //Strong organizational skills. // Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control. functions well in stressful situations. //At least one season’s experience working as a camp counselor. //Knowledge and skills of Waterfront management strongly preferred // Passion for aquatic activities and a desire to create new, exciting programming. //Current certification in Am. Red Cross Lifeguard Training or equivalent. //Current certification in Am. Red Cross First Aid & CPR for the Professional Rescuer. //Current certification in Am. Red Cross Fundamentals of Canoeing & Waterfront Safety. //21 years of age or older.
