About the Role:
Fitch Irick Corporation is offering a 6-week internship opportunity for an aspiring HR professional focused on HR Compliance and Policy Development. This internship provides hands-on experience in understanding HR compliance, developing policies, and ensuring the company adheres to legal and ethical standards. As an HR Intern, you will work closely with HR leadership and various teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of compliance issues and policies essential for a successful HR department.
Key Responsibilities:

HR Compliance Overview & Policy Review:
- Gain an understanding of Fitch Irick’s mission, values, and organizational structure while learning how HR supports business operations.
- Familiarize yourself with key HR compliance regulations, including labor laws, anti-discrimination, workplace safety, and other legal requirements.
- Review and assess Fitch Irick’s existing HR policies (e.g., Code of Conduct, Anti-Harassment Policy, EEO Policy) and make suggestions for improvement.

Research & Legal Compliance:
- Research federal, state, and local HR compliance regulations (e.g., FLSA, ADA, FMLA) and compare them to Fitch Irick’s current HR policies.
- Identify compliance gaps, assess risks, and recommend necessary policy updates to ensure the company remains compliant with legal standards.

Policy Development & Revisions:
- Revise existing HR policies to ensure they meet legal standards and reflect best practices.
- Draft new policies as needed to address compliance gaps, focusing on areas such as anti-discrimination, wage and hour laws, workplace safety, and leave policies.

Audit & Documentation:
- Assist with conducting an internal HR compliance audit to assess alignment with legal standards, covering areas such as recruitment, hiring, performance reviews, and employee leave.
- Document all HR compliance-related activities, including updates to policies, training materials, and audit findings, in preparation for internal or external audits.

Final Report & Presentation:
- Prepare a comprehensive final report summarizing your findings, policy revisions, training materials, and audit results.
- Present your work to HR leadership, outlining the improvements made, challenges encountered, and recommendations for continued compliance efforts.
Key Deliverables:
- Research on HR compliance regulations and identification of compliance gaps.
- Revised and newly drafted HR policies.
- HR compliance training materials and updated onboarding content.
- Internal HR audit report and compliance documentation.
- Final report and presentation summarizing internship contributions.
