Medical Consultant
The Medical Consultant serves in the Office of Medical Affairs, which is housed in MDHHS Health Services and provides clinical support to Michigan Medicaid and the Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) Program.
Utilizing clinical expertise and knowledge of program policies, the Medical Consultant performs medical eligibility reviews for the CSHCS Program. This work is accomplished through expert review of clinical notes, treatment plans, and other medical records to inform professional determinations around medical eligibility. The Medical Consultant uses the Department’s information system to access and review relevant documentation and record resultant decisions, and participates in CSHCS eligibility-related meetings and discussions.
The Medical Consultant also provides clinical consultation for service authorization requests through the Program Review Division and provides subject matter expertise to inform policy development and implementation.
