FLC PIE Internship- Native Bee Survey of FLC campus Intern
- Students must have taken or currently enrolled in BIOL 420- Zoology.
- Student intern will learn to recognize native bees from honey bees and bumble bees
- Student will capture native bees, photograph bees, pin, label and database bees.
- Student will learn how to maintain a collection of bees.
- Student will need to work in wetland and natural outdoor areas, sometimes in hot temperatures.
- Student may need to work on a weekend day 2-3 times a month
- Student will need to know how to use a dichotomous key and identify native bees to Genus and species level.
- Student will complete a research project related to FLC campus and native bees and present research at a conference.
This internship is funded through the Paid Industry Experience (PIE) Program. Students who can participate in this internship must meet the following requirements:
- Be eligible to work in the US
- Be enrolled at least half-time across all Los Rios campuses (six units for spring or fall; three units for summer)
- Have a 2.0 GPA or higher
