Juvenile Justice Specialist
Job Objective: Enforce, in a positive manner, facility rules and regulations; exercise good judgement and apply constructive attitudes toward detained individuals. Work involves overseeing, enforcing, engaging, instructing, and monitoring activities and behaviors of juveniles, including safety and security procedures.
Plan and supervise youth in all activities, such as recreational, education, hygiene, meals, visitation, life skills and spiritual services in accordance with policies and procedures of the Center.
Observe the behavior of the residents and record daily observations.
Report serious behavior problems to the Shift Leader and Administration.
Maintain order and control of the resident's behavior through techniques based on knowledge and adolescent behaviors.
Write concise, factual, and accurate observations to notify the Shift Leader and Administration promptly about the resident's adjustment.
Inspect physical environments to minimize dangers to security, health, and safety.
Observe each resident at specific intervals during sleeping hours.
Answer phones and receive visitors.
Perform one-on-one supervision of residents in seclusion and enter information into the seclusion log at least every five minutes.
Check residents files for completeness and request paperwork as needed.
Clean and maintain a safe working environment
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Administrator.
