Library Services - Library Assistant

Now Hiring For Fall 2025: Work Study Position   
Rod Library is seeking to fill a student Library Assistant position at our fast-paced and dynamic Library Services desk.  

Library assistants are part of a dedicated team that make up the front line of the main service desk at UNI’s Rod Library. These students perform a wide variety of duties in staffing the Library Services Desk. They provide top level customer service as they interact with patrons directly whether in person, on the phone, or through chat. Library Assistants provide high quality library service which requires knowledge of library resources, policies, and procedures, all learned on the job.


Number of Openings: 1
Hourly Wage Rate: $12.00
Hours Per Week: 10-15
Schedule: Must be able to work some nights and weekends.
Job Duration: Continuing throughout the year
Preferred start date: August 18, 2025
Note: Must have a work study award to apply. 
 

Required qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Reliable, dependable, and able to follow directions.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to complete projects accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to move and lift objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to reach and bend to shelve materials on shelves.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Customer service experience.
  • Good computer skills.
