Sapience is a Las Vegas-based education and technology company committed to transforming youth learning through modern platforms and operational excellence. As we expand, we’re building a hands-on engineering team in Las Vegas to drive the development of our internal systems, data infrastructure, student portals, and external digital products.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize our data architecture, data pipelines, and systems that enable smarter, faster data-driven decision-making across the organization. You’ll collaborate with software engineers, analysts, and product leaders to ensure the efficient flow and access of clean, reliable data. This is an on-site role at our Las Vegas headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering and Architecture
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration processes.
- Build and optimize data models and databases (especially SQL-based systems) for operational and analytical use cases.
- Ensure high levels of data availability, quality, security, and compliance.
Database Management and SQL Development
- Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.
- Manage relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or equivalent.
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot database-related issues.
Collaboration and Data Insights
- Work closely with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Support data-driven initiatives including reporting, analytics, and machine learning applications.
- Document processes and build data dictionaries and metadata management practices.
Infrastructure and Tools
- Implement data solutions using cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and modern data tools.
- Support version control and deployment processes using Git, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker).
Qualifications and Experience
- 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, Database Developer, or in a similar role.
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL and relational database management.
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and data warehousing.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Node.js for data processing.
- Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) is a plus.
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality standards, and security best practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative, agile work style.
- Located in Las Vegas or willing to relocate – this role is fully on-site.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000 USD annually, based on experience and qualifications.
