The Buck Institute seeks a Research Associate I (RAI) for a joint position between the Reproductive Biology Hub and the Duncan Lab. Our research aims to uncover the mechanisms behind female reproductive aging, ultimately improving fertility and health spans across generations.

Role Overview:
The RAI will learn and perform reproductive techniques with mammalian models under the direct supervision of Dr. Bikem Soygur Kaya and remote mentorship from Dr. Francesca Duncan. You'll work hands-on at the bench and intellectually contribute to impactful discoveries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and optimize experiments in cellular, molecular biology, and biochemistry
  • Maintain and manage a mouse breeding colony (including occasional weekend/holiday work)
  • Analyze experimental data and maintain a detailed digital lab notebook
  • Assist with lab management, supply ordering, and safety compliance
  • Support researchers using the Reproductive Biology Hub
  • Mentor students and teach lab techniques to collaborators

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Biomedical Sciences or related field
  • 1+ year lab experience; strong preference for background in reproductive biology or mouse genetics
  • Proficiency in techniques such as PCR, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and animal handling
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills
