
CLC - Planning & Implementation Intership
The City of Las Cruces Planning and Implementation is requesting applications for three paid intern positions. Applicant(s) would preferably be a Senior or Graduate-level student who can assist with various tasks related to city planning and implementation projects. Graduate students in any field with relevant education and/or experience are encouraged to apply.
Essential Job Functions (two or more of the following):
· Using a variety of tools and methods to identify data sources, gathering, collecting and assessing quality, cleaning, organizing, preparring, and packaging data for analysis;
· Collecting and analyzing demographic, land use and development-related data utilizing ESRI tools such as ArcGIS
· Researching various topics on healthy community design, context sensitive street design, land use policies, plan implementation and tracking;
· Performing “windshield surveys,” making site visits, taking photographs, etc.;
· Assisting operational staff with evaluating new software acquisitions
· Creating tables, charts, maps or graphics to present research and data collection;
· Creating press releases, newsletters, web-based information and other public outreach materials;
· Coordinating meetings for projects; and
· Carrying out other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills:
· Excellent writing abilities
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
· Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and/or other ESRI products
· Skilled in graphic design and photography
· Proficiency in data collection and analysis
