Field Study Student Assistant
The Field Study Student Assistant plays a key role in supporting essential student advising and administrative services within the School of Social Ecology's Field Study Program.
Student-Facing Responsibilities:
- Assist with student advising appointments.
- Respond to student inquiries via email and other platforms.
- Support and present student-focused workshops and information sessions.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Perform data entry and database management tasks.
- Contribute to report writing and data analysis.
- Develop content for social media, newsletters, and other promotional materials.
- Additional duties may be assigned based on departmental needs.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience working closely with the Field Study and Undergraduate Student Advising teams. Students will develop a versatile skill set applicable to graduate studies and careers across a wide range of Social Ecology-related fields.
We are seeking a student who can commit through the end of Spring 2026, with the possibility of continuing through the summer (starting in July). The start date is flexible and open to negotiation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Major within the School of Social Ecology
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Powerpoint, and Word (experience with Microsoft Access highly preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets and Slide
- Completion of statistics coursework (SE 13 or equivalent)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with working in an office environment
- Empathetic and sensitive to students from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to routinely work independently on assignments, seeking assistance and clarification when needed
- Ability to follow through with assignments on tight deadlines
- Receptive to constructive criticism
- Access to a secure and reliable internet connection
- Access to a secure and reliable laptop or desktop
- Minimum 3-quarter commitment
Preferred Qualifications
- 3.5+ overall GPA
- Work-study eligible
- Previous experience with Canva.com
- Previous experience with social media management
- Previous experience with graphic design or website design
