
Assistant Buyer
Day’s Jewelers is continuing to expand! We are seeking a results-oriented Assistant Buyer committed to quality, craftsmanship, and unparalleled customer service to join our dynamic Merchandising team. As an Assistant Buyer, you’ll be instrumental in supporting key business objectives related to gross profit, sales, inventory turnover, and aged inventory management. Assistant Buyers play a key role, providing support to Senior Buyers in the selection and management of collections, ensuring that our customers experience the best our Day’s brand has to offer.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Execute and manage tasks for the buying team, such as projects, stock balancing, placing orders, and creating SKUs
- Collaborate with the marketing and store operations teams to: *Participate in store events and promotions *Execute new product launches *Manage catalog merchandise
- Manage current inventory and enhance product assortment
- Attend vendor appointments to assist buyers in selecting merchandise and formulating strategies to achieve departmental goals
Competencies:
- Passion and understanding of jewelry, precious metals, diamonds, gemstones, timepieces, and the fashion industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and independently
- Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities
- Eagerness to learn and grow
Preferred Education and Experience:
- An Associate's degree in Marketing, Merchandising, Business, or Accounting
- Prior inventory experience, jewelry product knowledge, and/or jewelry industry certifications

This is a full-time, on-premises position in Waterville, Maine; the typical work week is Monday through Friday. Some nights, weekends, and overnight travel are necessary. Travel accounts for up to 25% of work time and includes trips for physical inventory counts, peak times, and events.
