Position Title: Finance Intern
Department: Finance and Administration
Reports To: Finance Controller
Location: Alexandria, VA
Status: Internship (Part-Time – 20 hours/week)
Duration: 6 months – one year
Compensation: $15/hour
Position Overview:
The Finance Intern will support the Finance and Administration Department of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)®, the non-profit credentialing organization, by assisting with a variety of financial and administrative tasks. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit or association finance, including budgeting, reporting, reconciliation, and financial recordkeeping. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in gaining insight into financial operations within a mission-driven organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with data entry and financial recordkeeping in accounting systems
Help prepare financial reports, spreadsheets, and presentations
Support monthly reconciliation of accounts and budget tracking
Organize and maintain financial files and documentation
Assist in invoice processing and payment tracking (Accounts Payable)
Support audit preparation by gathering and organizing necessary documents
Research financial trends or benchmarks, as assigned
Participate in team meetings and contribute to special projects
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office 365
Familiarity with financial software (QuickBooks, Sage, Bill.com, etc.) is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
