
Climate Resilience Intern

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Collective Impact team is at the forefront of our Foundation’s work to address Greater Miami’s most pressing challenges by bringing together cross-sector partners to accomplish bold, equitable solutions as a unified force for change. The team builds powerful coalitions, listens deeply to community, and oversees complex and important initiatives that impact the future of Greater Miami.
Greater Miami is ground zero for climate risk. We are at a critical moment and place – one that demands the pursuit of innovative solutions to shore up against disaster. We are proud to lead the way in that pursuit — nationally and locally –, inspiring a reimagining how foundations like ours respond to climate crises. As our climate evolves and disasters intensify, so must our approach to preparedness.
The Climate Resilience Intern will use their project management, communication, event coordination and community outreach skills to support several projects within our climate portfolio this summer.
Department: Collective Impact
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $20 per hourr. We anticipate 40 hours per week for 10 weeks. $10,000 total pay maximum for the internship period.
Reports to: Collective Impact Officer
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Engagement and Event Coordination
- Support the coordination of the organization’s relationships, including civic, private, non-profit and governmental partners within Greater Miami.
- Provide design, strategy and facilitation support to nurture strong collaborative relationships and engage cross-sector multi-stakeholder partnerships.
- Help plan and coordinate events hosted by the Foundation in collaboration with initiative partners and the Communications team.
Data and Project Management
- Compile data, research, and trends.
- Develop communications materials, including impact reporting/data, program flyers, websites, and reports in collaboration with team and external vendors.
Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience, Abilities & Skills
- Junior or senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in environmental science,
- Proficiency skills in the use of Microsoft Office, Canva, Asana, and/or other similar tools.
- An eagerness for working across multiple functions of a project.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills - a commitment to delivering quality customer service and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong writing and grammar skills and general communications abilities written and verbal.
- Proactive and solution-oriented – an inclination to proactively seek opportunities to maximize impact or overcome challenges. Creative and resourceful in seeking or developing solutions.
- Strong project and time management skills – adept at using organizational methods and tools to manage multiple workstreams with ease and effectiveness, while maximizing shared visibility and accountability.
