 Summary

Baker Roofing is searching for eager to learn individuals to join our Commercial New Construction Internship Program. This 10 week program will teach you about the commercial roofing industry with experiences including field training, technical training, and management shadowing. During the intensive curriculum you will progress along a career path towards project management, superintendent, estimating, sales, or similar positions.
This program will give you exposure to new construction projects of varying sizes and scales. You will see the process of commercial roofing from submittals, to visiting jobs sites, and involvement in various phases of projects.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The lists below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum High School Graduate/ College Preferred
  • Certifications: None
  • Language Skills:  Must speak English fluently
  • Driver License:  Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Computer Skills: Basic Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Reasoning Ability: Must be able to logically figure out how to accomplish their task
  • Communication: Written and verbal communication skills

Essential Functions

  • Ability to perform general physical activities in construction areas
  • Ability to identify problems and develop solutions in order to accomplish work
  • Ability to use oral or written communication to convey information effectively
  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to organize, plan, and execute work assignments
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work on a team
  • Participate in installation of roofing systems
  • Assist in reviewing and approving shop drawings and submittals
  • Assist in reviewing inter hand off form estimating to operations
  • Exposure to warranty processes, work permits, and job contracts.
  • Assist in maintaining job site records, daily reports, delay requests, and weather reports as required
  • Assist in monitoring job progress – provide input to assist with production reports and monitoring job costs
  • Attend meetings at main office and on site as required
  • Assist the project management team with total project preparation, execution and close out

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to carry and load material and equipment in excess of 100 pounds
  • Requires removing ladder from truck’s ladder rack
  • Setting up ladder to safely access roofs
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairways, and scaffolding

Potential Outcome

  • The program is designed to provide insight into the following positions: project management, superintendent, estimating, sales, or a similar role.
