Finance or Accounting Intern
THE PORT AUTHORITY
First established in 1929 by the Minnesota Legislature to manage the Saint Paul Harbor, the Saint Paul Port Authority (SPPA) was granted inland economic development authority in 1955. With four river ports and 17 inland business centers, our mission is to expand the tax base, serve as a conduit to quality job opportunities, advance sustainable and equitable development, and advocate for river commerce.
THE POSTION
This is an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate finance or accounting student to gain practical hands-on experience in a dynamic environment. You will assist with essential finance and accounting functions across government, non-profit, and for-profit entities while building a strong foundation in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support accounts payable (AP) tasks, such as invoice verification, tracking invoice approvals, and data entry
- Support accounts receivable (AR) tasks, such as payment tracking, customer account reconciliation, and running outstanding AR report and follow-up
- Monitor and reconcile daily cash transactions to ensure accuracy
- Assist with general ledger reconciliations and journal entries
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Conduct data entry and assist with financial analysis as needed
- Prepare and maintain financial records
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
- Collaborate with team members on special projects and process improvements
QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree in progress in finance or accounting
