Hours per Week:  20-25 Hours per week


Friends of Sequoia Therapeutic Recreation (DBA Sequoia Therapeutic Recreation) is a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families through community-based recreation cultivating confidence, friendships, joy, and respect. 

 

Position Summary:

Sequoia TR is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Intern to assist with a variety of business functions and tasks within our nonprofit organization. This internship offers practical experience in accounting, data management, documentation processes, and Information Technology. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and eager to learn in a dynamic environment.

 

Role Description

This position will be the first college intern assisting the Office Manager in a variety of administrative, financial, and data related tasks. Sequoia TR was just founded in 2021 and has grown quite quickly responding to the needs of the community. Some of the admin processes have grown to be too much for one person to handle. The ideal candidate will assist with reporting budget to actual, billing/invoicing and applying payments using Quickbooks Online.  This position will assist with registration data, fix registration issues, and running attendance and demographic reports for grants.  Sequoia TR has contracts with the Washington State and Pierce County, the ideal candidate will assist the Office Manager in maintaining contract compliance by auditing client files, reviewing billing documents, and properly applying payments to the appropriate client account. This position is a first and has the opportunity to grow. If the ideal candidate has IT experience, additional responsibilities could include creating a hardware inventory tracking system, reviewing employee logins and providing other IT assistance. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Familiarity/willingness to learn Quickbooks and/or data management software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) .
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
