
Senior Electrical Estimator
General Definition:
The Senior Electrical Estimator is responsible for all senior level estimating tasks. This includes but is not limited to items such as preparing detailed cost estimates and proposals for electrical construction projects at all levels. They are to thoroughly analyze project plans, specifications, and perform/review takeoffs and job cost budgets. All project and companywide pricing is to be closely monitored, maintained, and detailed to protect the company from any budget / profit losses. The primary element of the Senior Electrical Estimator is to provide accurate and competitive estimates to help secure contracts and ensure project profitability.
Job Responsibility List:
- Perform / Review project takeoffs and job cost budgets with proper pre-bid analysis
- Prepare / Review project proposals
- Conducts detailed pre-bid meetings with other management prior to issuance of company pricing to clients in order to ensure quality assurance
- Utilize company estimating software in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Assists in any Preconstruction tasks as necessary. Assists in monitoring project costs as required
- Provides, analyzes, and creates estimating reports based on specific company criteria
- Leads & Organizes job/phase handoff meetings with Construction Teams for project execution
- Maintains vendor & GC relationships: Obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, provide clear client / effective communication, and coordinate / provide cost-effective solutions, etc.
- Maintains department calendar / assignments AND close collaboration with project teams
- Closely track pricing of materials and labor with Purchasing department
- Develop detailed job budgets with precise accuracy
- Assist in preparing / tracking status of project change orders and options
- Performs job site visits as necessary for estimating purposes
- Assists in reviewing project buyouts of materials
- Assists as necessary in contractual negotiations: Scope inclusions and exclusions, etc.
- Ability to perform project management tasks, as required
- Ability to perform Value Engineering (VE) electrical estimates and alternates as required
- Ability to learn and estimate all sorts of electrical work
- Complete organized and compliant project documentation for record-keeping
- Identify & evaluate project risks that could impact costs and timelines
- Establish training protocols and maintain training methods / mentoring of estimating department as needed
- Ensuring all electrical work, proposal scopes, and job cost budgets are according to safety standards, building regulations, and the current National Electrical Code

Qualifications & Requirements:
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction management, business administration, or related fields
- Proficiency in MS 365 Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, OneNote, PowerPoint, Access, To Do etc.) as well as strong computer skills

- Ability to learn new software & systems quickly and implement/execute professionally
Required:
- Understanding of electrical industry and base understanding of the NEC and ability to read/interpret blueprints
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, Planswift, or similar systems
- Working knowledge of estimating software programs such as: EBM, ConEst, Accubid, McCormick, etc.
- 3 or more years of electrical estimating experience (i.e. Planning and defining scope of electrical projects including estimating costs and timeframes ensuring success and profitability of projects)
- 3 or more years of electrical supervisory and or project management experience (i.e. Oversight and coordination of electrical project teams to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems // Developing detailed project plans and schedules to ensure timely completion of projects)
- Experience with ordering electrical equipment, materials and supplies needed for an electrical project
- Valid Driver’s license
- Experience in Multifamily, Commercial, and Residential electrical construction
- Ability to manage multiple projects with high level of electrical construction understanding
