IT Technician - Intern

This part-time internship offers hands-on experience in IT support, allowing the intern to develop technical skills and problem-solving capabilities. You will gain exposure to real-world scenarios, troubleshooting, and maintaining IT systems while contributing to our success.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

 •    Provide first-line technical support to our customers, addressing hardware, software, and network issues.
•    Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of PCs, peripherals, and mobile devices.
•    Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues with efficiency and professionalism.
•    Document and track help desk requests and resolutions using a ticketing system.
•    Support inventory management and maintain records of IT equipment.
•    Assist users with software, hardware, and network-related problems.
•    Diagnose and resolve technical issues via phone, email, chat, or in person.
•    Keep detailed records of issues and solutions for future reference.
•    Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
•    Maintain confidentiality of information.
•    Perform duties in a manner consistent with the CCITC core values.


Additional Tasks and Responsibilities

While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this classification and may also be performed by other unit members.

·         Enter data to service request ticketing system.

·         Enter information into a time reporting system.

·         Effective oral and written communication skills

 

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

•    Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
•    Familiarity with Windows operating systems and common software applications.
•    Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols.
•    Basic knowledge of hardware troubleshooting and network concepts.
•    Strong communication and customer service skills.
•    Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
•    Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting expertise.
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•    Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software, including Windows and Mac operating systems.
•    Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver’s license required. Use of personal automobile is required.

 

Compensation:
•    Starting at $15.63 - $17.50.
