Volunteer Coordinator

As our Volunteer Coordinator, you will play a vital role in recruiting, organizing, and managing individual and group volunteers for both short-term and long-term opportunities. You'll collaborate with departments across the organization to identify volunteer needs, onboard new volunteers, and provide ongoing support and engagement. This role is also the face of our volunteer program at community events, presentations, and tours.

Essential Responsibilities

Volunteer Program Management

Collaborate with departments to identify and fulfill volunteer needs.

Recruit, onboard, and train individual and group volunteers.

Match volunteers with opportunities based on skills, availability, and interests.

Schedule and assign volunteers to departments and events.

Maintain up-to-date volunteer records and files.

Process background checks and follow up as needed.

Draft and maintain volunteer program guidelines and procedures.

Organize volunteer appreciation and recognition activities.

Community Engagement

Represent the organization at outreach and tabling events.

Conduct presentations to inform and inspire community involvement.

Lead tours for individuals and groups interested in our work.

Additional Duties

Support other organizational tasks and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field OR equivalent experience in a similar role.

Skills & Competencies

Familiarity with volunteer database systems (Golden Volunteer preferred).

Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

Experience in training and onboarding processes.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

High level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Self-motivated and team-oriented.

Experience working with diverse populations is a plus.
