Oakwell has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Internship/Co-Op - Summer 2025 in our Boston, MA office. The position offers the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations in support of a variety of project delivery needs while also learning the business skills needed for a successful engineering career.
This is a full-time paid internship that will last approximately 12 to16 weeks (May - August). Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with building site energy utilization, carbon emissions and benchmarking against similar facilities.
- Assist with facility audits to gain an understanding of existing MEP systems, condition, operating parameters, age, etc. and document.
- Review existing condition drawings and other pertinent information.
- Under the direction of senior engineers, retro-commission existing mechanical systems including central plant, air handling, terminal equipment and energy management systems.
- Under the direction of a senior engineer, develop custom spreadsheets and energy models to estimate savings of energy conservation opportunities.
- Assist in sizing new HVAC equipment, piping, ductwork and other components.
- Prepare scaled construction documents of mechanical systems utilizing AutoCAD.
- Commission new systems and control recommendations.
- Prepare commissioning reports.
- Assist engineers in completing energy conservation and facility assessment analysis and reports.
- Attend project meetings and participate in project discussions.

- Competency with Microsoft Office software suite and AutoCAD
Requirements
- Enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or Inventor)
- Strong understanding of engineering principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- GPA of 3.0 or above
