The Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic Web Scraping Infrastructure Intern to join our team. We are building a robust web scraping system in Rust to collect critical data for our platform. This infrastructure has laid the groundwork for our data pipelines — and now we’re ready to take it to the next level. 

In this role, you'll dive into our existing codebase and make parts of it your own. You’ll work on retrieving data from various sports and financial sources, ensuring it's done quickly, reliably, and at scale. This is a hands-on opportunity to own a core system in a production environment and shape it from the ground up. You'll collaborate closely with our core development team to integrate the scrapers into our broader platform, meaning your work will have immediate, visible impact on our product and users.
 

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

Maintain & Build Scraping Pipelines: Use Rust to maintain and extend our web scraping pipelines, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and reliable for high-volume data collection.

Work with Proxies & Anti-Bot Tech: Implement and manage rotating proxies and other anti-bot measures so our scrapers can smoothly gather data without getting blocked.

Parse and Process Data: Write code to parse HTML and JSON responses from various websites and APIs, transforming messy, unstructured data into clean, usable information that feeds into our systems.

Integrate with Our Platform: Collaborate with the backend team to integrate scraped data into our platform’s databases and services, ensuring that data flows seamlessly from collection to end-user features.

Optimize & Scale: Monitor scraping performance and troubleshoot issues, using Rust’s concurrency (async programming, multithreading) to speed up data collection. Continuously improve the system for robustness and scalability as we add more sources.
 

What We're Looking For (Desired Skills)

Rust Proficiency (or Eagerness to Learn): Experience writing code in Rust is a huge plus; if you haven’t used Rust yet, you’re excited to learn it and have solid systems programming fundamentals.

Web Scraping Experience (or Eagerness to Learn): Familiarity with web scraping techniques and tools in any language — you know how to use HTTP clients, handle cookies/sessions, and maybe even have dealt with headless browsers or APIs.

Data Pipeline Mindset: You're comfortable working with data in motion — maybe you have experience with ETL pipelines, databases, or processing large datasets in a stream/batch fashion.

Problem-Solving Attitude: You love tackling tough technical problems — when a website throws curveballs (like weird HTML or rate limits), you enjoy figuring out how to adapt and overcome.

Startup Team Player: You're self-driven and can work independently, but also love brainstorming with a team; you're not afraid to take ownership of important projects and run with them.
