College Intern - Innovation and Strategy
The City of Aurora is accepting applications for the position of College Intern in the Division of Innovation and Strategy.
The College Intern should have an interest in community service and public policy, and a desire to improve the lives of low- and moderate-income residents. The College Intern is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of key community initiatives, including the Aurora’s Promise Children’s Savings Account Program and the City’s collaborative strategies to prevent and end homelessness. The College Intern will assist with research, evaluation, and proposal development for new initiatives to further the goals of the Division. The College Intern will be responsible for the development of one complete proposal. As time allows, the College Intern may be asked to assist with other events and projects within the Community Services Department.
Duties will include but are not limited to: Assist with various projects related to division operations such as: preparation of program outreach materials, communications with community and program partners, administrative support for meetings and events; Assist with identification of and support opportunities to engage the community and partners to foster best practices and strategic approaches to strengthening current programs and developing new initiatives; Conduct independent research and evaluation of relevant initiatives; Present final project; Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree program in public administration, public policy, political science, sociology, social work, nonprofit management, urban studies, communications, or a related field at a college or university; or have graduated within the previous six months.
- Must be in good standing with the college/university currently enrolled in and have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 or higher scale.
- Requires a valid driver’s license.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
The hourly pay range is $16.95/hr - $20.24/hr, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a seasonal position with part-time to full-time hours available. Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a physical, drug screen, and background check.
