Worship Leader

 

 

Overview:

Hales Corners Lutheran Church is a vibrant congregation located in southeastern Wisconsin just outside the city of Milwaukee. We offer a blended worship experience with contemporary, modern and traditional music styles in several weekly worship opportunities and yearly Festivals. HCL’s dynamic Music Ministry is looking for an accomplished musician to join our team. The Worship Leader will partner with the Director of Music Ministry to lead worship services with strong instrumental skills and vocals in a Spirit-filled atmosphere. 

 

Accountability:

The Worship Leader will report to the Director of Music Ministry.  

 

Personal Qualifications:
The Worship Leader will be an example of Christian conduct through his/her leadership. He or she is willing to become a member of Hales Corners Lutheran and be in agreement with the vision, philosophy of ministry, and statement of faith. He or she will set an example in their personal devotional life and regular attendance in worship. He or she will be a motivated, passionate, Gospel-driven individual that is committed to excellence.

 

Professional Qualifications:

  1. Preferably hold an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree.
  2. Preferably have prior professional experience:  church based or commercial music.
  3. Available to work a schedule that varies by season and is expected to include weekday evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  4. Be a self-starter and able to assess priorities and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  5. Be friendly, welcoming and helpful, leading by example with confident humility.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Director of Music Ministry to help lead worship services with strong instrumental skills (like: piano, guitar, keys) and vocals.
  2. Help select and execute congregational and special music; prep and arrange lead sheets for musicians and vocalists.
  3. Read music leads sheets, scores, and/or guitar charts; successfully collaborate and play with a tight band; lead/participate in rehearsals. 
  4. Have knowledge of traditional Lutheran hymns and contemporary Christian music. 
  5. Assist and/or lead music, as needed, for funerals, weddings, concerts, Holiday worship. 
  6. Assist in managing the volunteer staff / AV Tech team. Learn basic sound booth systems. 
  7. Regularly attend staff devotions and meetings as assigned by the Director of Music Ministry.
  8. Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Music Ministry.

 

Commitment and Compensation:

This position is an exempt, full-time, benefitted position.
