Reports to: Digital Marketing Manager, under the Director of Marketing & Communications

Job Summary:
The Jekyll Island Authority is seeking a Marketing Specialist with excellent communication skills and an interest in marketing, specifically in content creation for social media. Ideal candidate must be a team player and solid communicator. Candidate must have strong organizational and time management skills, including being detail oriented with a positive, team-oriented attitude and manner. Must be self-motivated with strong verbal and written communication skills and must have ability to interact with vendor, partners and all levels of internal staff with a high level of professionalism. Under general supervision by the Digital Marketing Manager, the Marketing Specialist will provide support for the marketing department by overseeing a variety of tasks, including content creation for Jekyll Island’s social media channels and developing communications reflective of the Jekyll Island “voice.”
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage on-going projects such as collateral production and distribution.
- Create, review, and approve all social media content for all online social media channels of Jekyll Island and JIA-owned amenities. This may include nights or weekends, during special events, etc.
- Manage all community conversation and crisis mitigation on JIA-owned platforms as well as organic channels related to Jekyll Island, as needed. This will include nights and alternating weekends.
- Aid in proofreading of all external communications, including printed and digital collateral for Jekyll Island and JIA-owned amenities.
- Oversee co-op advertising and email programs with area partners, including content creation, creative reviews, performance reporting and billing.
- Develop necessary reporting documents including social media analytics and ad campaign results.
- Manage communication with vendors and sponsors, including updating distribution lists for island stakeholders and vendor contacts.
- Complete routine and/or seasonal updates to website’s online event calendar.
- Manage general marketing department inquiries and oversee donation requests made through marketing coordinator.
- Oversee marketing coordinator’s management of purchase order and invoice processing and tracking of departmental budget.
- Manage purchase orders for department office supplies, event supplies, etc.
- Manage team calendars and meetings, to coordinate details as necessary.
- Work on-site for special events throughout the year, as scheduled.
- Additional administrative duties may be assigned as needed to meet organizational goals.
- In the absence of marketing coordinator, may be required to assist other administration department heads or assistants as necessary.
- May be required to work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in communications, public relations, marketing, business or related required.
- Minimum of three years related experience is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail.
- Solid mathematical, logic and analytical skills.
- Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint and Excel required.
- Experience with content creation for social media platforms, WordPress, MailChimp and Google Analytics desired.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- More than 50% of the typical workday will be spent sitting, however, certain periods will require more than 50% of the day spent walking and standing.
- Less than 25% of the day is generally spent stooping; bending body downward and forward at the waist, and crouching; bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Certain periods will require more than 25% of the day stooping and crouching.
- Must have visual clarity for both close range work such as computer use and reading and distance such as operating motor vehicles and determining the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
- Sensory abilities required include vision, touching and feeling with more than 50% of the day spent communicating including talking and hearing.
- Required to perform work both inside and outside. Exposure to extreme heat, high humidity, and occasionally adverse weather conditions including occasional extreme cold.
- May be exposed to hazards such as moving vehicles.
- Noise levels are considered normal to loud, will be subjected to loud, above ambient noise level occasionally.
