
Human Resources Records Retention Intern
THE CITY OF DANVILLE: The City of Danville is located 35 miles southwest of Lexington and is a thriving community with a population of 17,000. Position Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Human Resources Director, will provide support in administering a researched-based records retention project for the Human Resources Department. Will be responsible for researching personnel records retention rules for municipal governments in KY, inventorying historical personnel records, and developing a catalog system for electronic records storage.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for researching and becoming familiar with personnel records retention requirements for KY municipal governments.
- Will take responsibility for inventorying historical personnel records.
- Responsible for developing a catalog system identifying historical records that need to be either retained or purged, and reporting researched based recommendations to the Human Resources Director.
- Will assist the Human Resources Clerk in organizing and electronically storing historical records
- Assist with greeting visitors, employees, and the general public, and will document their inquiries and communicate back to the Human Resources staff in a timely manner.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently on research-based projects.
- Proven ability to work with a high level of confidentiality.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Required to display a high level of professionalism at all times.
Education and Experience:
- Current graduate or undergraduate college student
- Current area of study in business administration, public administration, human resources, or similar field is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of the human resources field is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs occasionally.
- Walking, twisting, stooping, and bending on a regular basis.
- Must be able to sit at a workstation for extending periods of time.
Compensation: $15/hr.
