Neurologist
Role Description
This is a full-time active-duty role for a Neurologist at the US Navy. You will be responsible for diagnosing and treating neurological conditions, specializing in areas such as epilepsy, movement disorders, and EEG testing.
The Neurology Division provides consultation, diagnosis, treatment, and educational services to all beneficiaries 18 and older, both inpatient and outpatient, with diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscle. Our mission is to enhance health, well-being, and fleet readiness through patient care, medical education, and clinical research.
Work Environment
Navy Physicians may serve at any of more than 250 Navy and medical facilities around the globe, from Hawaii to Japan, Germany to Guam, and Washington, D.C. to Washington state. As a Navy Physician, you can work at one of the highly acclaimed National Naval Medical Centers in Bethesda, MD; Portsmouth, VA; and San Diego, CA. You might even provide medical support to deployed troops aboard one of two dedicated hospital ships—the USNS Comfort and USNS Mercy. Still more opportunities are available aboard a surface ship, working closely with a nearby aircraft squadron, or with the Fleet Marine Force.
Qualifications
- MD or DO license
- Medicine and Neurology skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting
- Experience working in a military or government healthcare setting is a plus
