The Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, Massachusetts, seeks an energetic, experienced, full-time Education Program Assistant to provide administrative support for the Steiner Summer Yiddish Program, In eynem online Yiddish courses, and other educational programs for youth and adults.
Position description
The Education Program Assistant provides essential support to staff and faculty for the Steiner Summer Yiddish Program, In eynem online Yiddish courses, and a full calendar of other dynamic educational programs throughout the year. Periodic weekend/evening work required. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinating events and the Steiner Summer Program’s daily calendar
- Coordinating program admissions and registration
- Assisting with program marketing and publicity
- Arranging travel and lodging for students and faculty
- Responding to inquiries about Steiner, In eynem, and other educational programs
- Handling program related logistics
- Maintaining participant databases and files
- Scheduling interviews and meetings
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- BA degree
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Commitment to program mission
- Willingness and ability to work as a member of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic communications
- Flexibility and sense of humor
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Preferred:
- Experience with intensive language programs and educational programs and environment
- Familiarity with local academic institutions and Jewish community
- Familiarity with modern Jewish history and culture

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position requires working at desk and using a computer for prolonged periods of time. The position also requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, and reaching. Work will be performed in multilevel office environment and museum spaces.
