Network System Researcher

What you will learn and contribute to

Network Systems Research at Bell Labs covers technologies relating to 5G-Advanced/6G network systems, cloud-native systems, and end-to-end network orchestration and automation. Your work will play a critical role in shaping the future of networking, as we strive to advance technology and develop a unified networking experience (UNEXT) for everyone.

As part of our team, you will contribute to research covering one or more of the following technology domains:

  • Design of RAN and Core systems for 6G
  • Next-generation Open RAN (O-RAN) systems
  • End-to-end Network Slice Management
  • Multi-access Open RAN including Wireless LANs
  • Non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) for cellular access
  • Practical applied AI/ML for network automation
  • Intelligent Lifecycle Management of Cloud-native Cellular Systems
  • Quantum Internet/Quantum AI

What is Nokia looking for from me

You are:

  • Carries a PhD from an accredited educational institution within the US
  • Requiring a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Data Science, or a related field

You must have:

  • Excellent programming skills for prototyping
  • Prior research experience supported by a proven track record
  • Strong written and spoken communication/presentation skills

It would be nice if you also had:

  • A strong publication record
  • Hands-on experience on open-source projects, e.g., OpenAirInterface, srsRAN, Open5GS, Free5GC
  • Ability to identify upcoming research trends and directions with a focus on maximizing impact
