Cybersecurity Intern

We are currently looking for a Cybersecurity Intern to join our Information Services team! This is a full-time internship where you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop a strong foundation in cybersecurity practices while also helping to safeguard our credit union’s information systems. Leverage your college education and experience to jump-start your career in cybersecurity at Oregon State Credit Union, headquartered right here in Corvallis. 

 

As the Cybersecurity Intern, you will assist in monitoring and analyzing security systems for potential threats and vulnerabilities and conduct research on emerging industry trends and technologies, supporting the development and implementation of information security policies and procedures. You’ll also participate in security assessments such as penetration testing and vulnerability management and help manage and respond to security incidents. Additionally, you’ll gain valuable exposure to the entire IS team including Operations, Infrastructure and Core Applications to not only get a sense of what an internal IS department does for a company but also how cybersecurity integrates with the entire business.

 

What you will need to be successful:

  • Expected Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field by 2026
  • Genuine interest and passion for cybersecurity and the willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges and environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply basic understanding of information security principles and best practices and Windows systems 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical terminology to non-technical users and showcase patience and strong listening skills 
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Experience through coursework, club involvement or another capacity with networking concepts and protocols, and common operating systems like Windows, Linux, and macOS highly preferred

Location: 4800 SW Research Way, Corvallis

Schedule: 40 hours a week during the summer with the potential opportunity to stay on during the school year, working up to 20 hours a week and with lots of flexibility for class schedule

Work type: Temporary full-time, onsite and nonexempt

Compensation: $24/hour
