PR & Communications Intern (Social Media Focus)

Role Overview:
We’re seeking a creative, organized, and digitally fluent PR & Communications Intern to join our team for a hands-on, high-impact experience. This internship will focus on building and enhancing Maya Hotels’ brand presence across social media platforms, with a spotlight on:
- The pre-opening buzz of Hilton Garden Inn Steele Creek
- 5-year anniversary of two key Maya Hotels properties
- 30-year anniversary of Maya Hotels as a company
The intern will help shape our voice online, craft compelling content, and support storytelling that drives awareness, excitement, and community connection.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Content Development
- Assist with creating and scheduling content across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
- Develop a visual + written content calendar for:
- Construction milestones and sneak peeks at Hilton Garden Inn Steele Creek
- Countdown and campaign for the 30-year company celebration
- “Then & Now” storytelling for the 5-year hotel anniversary

- Write captions, develop hashtags, and align with brand voice and visuals.
Capture and curate user-generated content, staff stories, and behind-the-scenes moments.
Engagement + Analytics
- Monitor and engage with community comments and messages across platforms.
- Track performance metrics (reach, engagement, follower growth).
- Provide a weekly snapshot report with insights and recommendations.
Campaign & Event Support
- Support campaign development for:
- HGI Steele Creek market debut (creative teaser campaigns, partner features, rooftop previews)
- Anniversary celebrations (interviews, timeline storytelling, celebration posts)
- Assist with press release coordination and media outreach lists.
- Prepare internal communications and highlight reels for leadership and staff.

Asset Creation & Collaboration
- Work with graphic design tools like Canva or Adobe Express.
- Help coordinate photo/video shoots as needed.
- Collaborate with internal hotel teams and external vendors (photographers, media contacts, etc.).
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Pursuing a degree in PR, Communications, Marketing, Hospitality, or related field.
- Strong writing and editing skills with an eye for brand storytelling.
- Social media savvy and familiar with trends across platforms.
- Able to manage multiple projects and adapt quickly.
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative.
- Bonus if experienced with Canva, Meta Business Suite, or short-form video editing.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the internship, the intern will:
- Understand how to build a brand presence online from the ground up.
- Gain real-world experience developing milestone campaigns and events.
- Learn best practices in PR writing, social engagement, and performance analytics.
- Have a portfolio of published content and executed campaigns.
