Position Description:
The Engineering & Technology Department is seeking qualified Biotechnology teaching candidates. The teaching assignment will include undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in Biotechnology.
Job Duties:
1. Teach lecture/lab sections of biotechnology, bio-manufacturing, and stem cell technology related courses typically listed in the City College of San Francisco catalog and time schedules.
2. Participate in the development and/or selection of ancillary materials, equipment, computer software, etc. that will enhance the biotechnology offerings of the department.
3. Teach day, evening, and/or Saturday classes or classes at one or more sites as required.
4. Develop and teach short-term (2-4 weeks) industry based laboratory technique courses for CCSF students as well as for employees in the biotechnology industry.
5. Develop and teach dual enrollment and/or biotechnology courses designed for high school students.
6. Participate in committee work, grant writing, curriculum development, student recruitment, articulation, and other duties necessary for the effective operations of the program, the Engineering Department, and the College.
7. May participate in departmental functions, such as staff meetings, committee work, faculty evaluations, and others.
8. Supports and engages in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.
9. Participates in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
2. Earned Bachelor's Degree in the Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Engineering from an accredited institution AND two years of full-time related professional experience directly related to the faculty member's assignment; OR THE EQUIVALENT.

Desirable Qualifications:
1. Demonstrated knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), EPA, FDA, and OSHA requirements as related to the biotechnology industry.
2. Previous teaching experience in post-secondary institution.
3. Demonstrated ability to instruct students with widely varying ethnic, mathematical, and science backgrounds, including high school students.
4. Demonstrated related industrial technical work experience.
5. Academic work in any related disciplines beyond the minimum education requirement (Minimum Qualification #2).
6. Evidence of instructional experience at the university or college level using culturally responsive pedagogy.
7. Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students.
