$15 per hour, 6-8 hours per week, 4-6 weeks

Lehigh University Art Galleries (LUAG) seeks dynamic individuals of all backgrounds, experiences, and abilities to join our team. The dates and times of the internship are flexible and will be based on specific projects. Candidates do not need to have an extensive background or knowledge of art, but a love of art and culture is a plus. Recommended for current undergraduate and graduate students and recent university graduates. Students from all universities are welcome to apply. 

Museum Education Interns will have an opportunity to contribute to a variety of education and outreach initiatives at LUAG. Interns will perform a combination of research, writing, and administrative duties, which may include:

 

Research: 

  • Research art objects and artists within the Art Galleries’ permanent collection.
  • Assist with the preparation of lesson plans, tours, and research materials for upcoming exhibitions
  • In collaboration with LUAG staff, develop a weekly social media post on artwork from the LUAG Permanent Collection 
  • Assist with exhibition tours and education events for campus and community. 

 

Outreach and Audience Engagement

  • Assist with and develop resources for LUAG website and exhibition pages. 
  • Assist with planning and executing activities to engage the community in the arts and culture, either in-person or digitally/virtually. 
  • Help to identify and secure potential campus and community partnerships. 
  • Assist with special projects, research, audience analysis, and event planning
  • Assist with other duties as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational skills and an eye for detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with writing and developing tours and lesson plans is not required but is a plus
  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Canva (experience in Adobe Creative Suite or other design programs is a plus)
  • Reliable transportation to and from work 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks at once, and adhere to deadlines 
  • Bilingual a plus but not required
