Head Chef - Marion

The New Leaf Organization is expanding and looking for a talented Head Chef to join our team at our Marion, Ohio location. We provide high-quality meals and exceptional service to our community. This is a dual role that offers an opportunity to work with students who have a passion for culinary arts. You will be managing a kitchen while helping kids explore their interests and develop their skills

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including approximately 3-6 student workers and 2 staff members.
  • Plan, prepare, cook, and serve meals.
  • Create and order appropriate groceries, meats, staples, etc.
  • Operate all kitchen equipment including mixers, grinders, slicers, ovens, dishwashers, etc.
  • Ensure cleanliness of kitchen equipment, dishes, pots, pans, utensils, shelving, sinks, refrigerators, etc.
  • Secure the kitchen and pantry upon departure.
  • Stock groceries in appropriate places as delivered.
  • Oversee resident chores including trash removal, dining room cleaning, dish washing, and food preparation.
  • Develop budgets, plan specials, and manage food costs.
  • Maintain high standards for meal presentation and ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest quality and presentation standards.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, management, and residents to ensure a positive and efficient kitchen environment.

 Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of cooking, menu planning and supervisory experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a team player attitude.

  • Schedule: Monday – Thursday, Friday will be cleaning kitchen, organizing
  • Summer schedule: Early June to middle of August 3-day work week
  • Salary: $45,000 - $60,000, depending on experience
