Job Summary:

 

The Department of Athletics is seeking a Director of Football Visual Brand. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ),12-month, professional faculty position.

Reporting to the Creative Director, the Director of FB Visual Brand is a member of the football department and delivers innovative and on-brand visual solutions for web, email, social media, print, and all other digital efforts. This individual will use their organizational and project management skills to ensure that all project timelines are met. The position will be responsible for supervision of student creatives.

 

The Director of Visual Brand will primarily be responsible for the development and execution of the visual brand of Beaver Football, aligned with the organization’s brand objectives. The incumbent will collaborate with the Creative Director to ensure a cohesive and impactful brand presence across various digital platforms. Stay up to date on industry trends and provide insightful recommendations to optimize visual brand strategy.

Key Responsibilities

 

50% DESIGN MANAGEMENT The Director of Visual Brand is a dynamic role that involves crafting and executing a visual brand strategy through design and visual aid to enhance the organization’s online presence and recruiting brand. Working closely with the Director, this professional will oversee the development and implementation of strategic plans to enhance visual identity, drive brand awareness and build the football brand. Additionally, the Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams to elevate the organization’s visual brand and maintain brand consistency.

 

25% PHOTOGRAPHY (NO VIDEOGRAPHY ) In partnership with the Football Creative Department, this position will assist in all Oregon State Football visuals; including but not limited to the photography of football recruits, student-athletes, staff and supports of the program. Independently creates and enhances current branding opportunities. Effectively recommends strategies to the Creative Director to enhance visual identity for the Football Recruiting Department. Stays current on branding theory and industry standards.

 

10% DEPARTMENT COLLABORATION Communicates and collaborates on a routine basis with the Beaver Creative Team within the athletic department. Generates and encourages new ideas, then sees them through to the design implementation. Collaborates with current creative staff to assist in the enhancement of their graphic packages for videos that are produced for players and recruits.

 

10% SUPERVISION / LEAD WORK Provides leadership and supervision for 1-2 creative students. Plans and assigns work projects. Communicates with individuals on a routine basis. Cultivates an environment that encourages creativity. Successfully monitors progress and provides feedback in a timely manner.

 

5% SPECIAL PROJECTS Engages in unique, often time-sensitive projects and initiatives that fall outside of regular responsibilities. Engage in project management, problem solving, collaboration, and the delivery of critical outcomes autonomously.

 

What You Will Need

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Applied Visual Arts, Journalism, Sports Management or a field related to this position, AND one year of experience working as a graphic designer OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience.

• Demonstrated high-level proficiency with media software (ex: Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.).

• Demonstrated ability to problem solve, collaborate and deliver critical outcomes autonomously.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate in a manner that shows respect and inclusivity for student athletes, student workers and colleagues.

• A working knowledge of NCAA Division 1 Rules and Regulation.

 

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

 

What We Would Like You to Have

 

One (1) year of experience in a football program, university athletic department or professional sports organization.

 

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

 

Morning, evening and weekend work may be required.

Coaches or employees at collegiate institutions may also be considered IAWPs for PSAs that they recruit. Answers to the questions must be truthful. False or misleading answers could result in termination or disqualification from eligibility for any employment at Oregon State University.
