
Accounting Associate
The Accounting Associate on our Client Advisory Services team will apply accounting principles to ensure accurate and compliant transaction processing. This role will reconcile accounts, resolve discrepancies in accounts receivable and payable, and prepare timely journal entries and financial statements. Collaborating closely with clients and senior staff, the Associate will provide accounting feedback, handle special projects, and contribute to maintaining strong client relationships through effective communication and service excellence.
Responsibilities
• Apply accounting principles to enter and review transactions for appropriate treatment and compliance with accounting standards and regulations
• Reconcile accounts and research discrepancies
• Review account balances for accuracy and reasonableness
• Provides timely and accurate recording of accounts receivable transactions
• Process accounts payable transactions promptly and precisely
• Analyzes and resolves discrepancies in accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions
• Assist client with timely recording of payroll journal entries including accrued payroll and taxes
• Identify and prepare journal entries, adjusting them as needed
• Ensure proper workpaper documentation for all accounts
• Self-review of work before submission, including balance sheet reconciliations, P&L classification and state and local tax filings
• Prepare financial statements and payroll reports
• Provide general accounting feedback and recommendations to in-charges
• Prepare payroll taxes, sales and other local taxes, personal property taxes
• Compile raw data into trial balance format, including recapping cash receipts and disbursements
• Research reference materials involving bookkeeping, payroll, and tax questions
• Perform tax prep, complex professional write-up work, audit support work, direct client consulting, and other special projects
• Participates in quality assurance initiatives
• Manage, prioritize, and communicate workload to ensure deadlines are met
• Elevate client concerns to appropriate team members
• Build strong, trusted relationships with current and prospective clients
• Participate in client meetings with senior staff as applicable
• Communicate potential additional service offerings to clients
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive information as per company policies and guidelines
• QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor Certification preferred
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelors degree or higher in accounting or related field OR
• Associates degree in accounting or related field plus minimum two years relevant experience
• Accounting based internship preferred
• Application of basic accounting practices within a business environment preferred
• Understanding of basic accounting principles
• Experience using the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), QuickBooks Online, Fixed Asset Solutions, and Bill.com preferred
• Effective communication skills
