Instructional Design and Training Coordinator
Position Purpose: The Instructional Design and Training Coordinator is responsible for andragogical and LMS (Canvas) design and training for faculty and coordinating technology training for all faculty and staff.
Essential Job Functions:
- This 12-month contract role involves a diverse range of responsibilities including assisting faculty in the design and development of courses and programs, providing Learning Management System (LMS) support and training (Canvas), conducting instructional quality reviews, participating in service and committee work, implementing new technologies, and maintaining professional development.
- This position will require an individual with strong pedagogical, creative, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with faculty, subject matter experts, and various stakeholders to design curricula, instructional materials, and assessment strategies.
- Establishes an environment which encourages creative and independent use of instructional and organizational technology throughout the institution.
- Models effective uses of technology for faculty, staff, and students.
- Follows college copyright laws and technology guidelines.
- Researches new and emerging technologies and software and hardware solutions, and provide training opportunities for faculty and staff.
- Assists educators in planning for the use and integration of technology in the instructional program.
- Works with the Center for Teaching and Learning to design, coordinate, and provide technology and andragogy workshops, and research and/or provide individual training opportunities for faculty and staff to ensure the best use of technology and andragogy.
- Participates in faculty meetings and events in order to be familiar with stakeholder needs.
- Develops written instructions and procedures for the use of software as needed.
- Coordinates with the Associate Dean of The Center for Teaching and Learning and Distance and Online Education, providing support of the LMS (Canvas) software for faculty, including minor troubleshooting.
- Coordinates with and assists the Associate Dean of The Center for Teaching and Learning and Distance and Online Education with the administration and support of the web-conferencing software, including training and minor troubleshooting.
- Confers with administrators, managers, instructors, and staff to determine training needs utilizing the Center for Teaching and Learning.
- Schedules training based on need as well as availability of software, classrooms, and equipment needed coordinating efforts with the Center for Teaching and Learning.
- Manages and updates the Center for Teaching and Learning’s PD calendar.
- Provides instructors with strategies of how technology can be used to achieve instructional goals.
- Works cooperatively with the Instructional Technology Services providers.
- Responds to software application questions by answering email, telephone, and personal inquiries concerning numerous types of software.
- Trains potential faculty to teach online classes for the institution.
- Demonstrates significant knowledge of online, quality course design standards, and best practices.
- Design, develop, convert, review and renew online courses utilizing current quality course design best practices.
- Regularly review and evaluate courses to ensure quality and effectiveness.
- Utilize software applications in the development of interactive online courses.
- Guide and track multiple projects to successful completion simultaneously.
- Interact with faculty and staff to ensure courses meet quality requirements.
- Research instructional best-practices and emerging trends to incorporate into course content and design.
- Be an active member of the Learning Management System Committee,
- Be an active member of the Center for Teaching and Learning Committee.
- Be an active member of the Center for Teaching and Learning Advisory Board.
- Be willing to take on additional responsibility and work collaboratively, both within the unit, campus wide, and around the state.
- Other duties as deemed necessary for the function of the college.

Required Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.
- Education and training in Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, Instructional Technology, or Higher Education preferred.
- Preferred minimum of three years’ experience using Canvas LMS
- Minimum two years of experience in faculty development, teaching in higher education, or instructional design, and educational technology with andragogy training in instructional design.
- At least two years teaching online higher education courses and 1 or more years of on-ground higher education or post- graduate teaching experience required.
Skills:
- Instructional Design Expertise: A strong foundation in instructional design theories and models
- Course Design Standards: Knowledge of quality course design standards and best practices
- E-Learning Authoring Tools: Knowledge of LMS, preferred 3+ years’ experience with Canvas software and experience with instructional technology and course development with
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Banner
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Communicate with diverse audiences, possessive active listening skills for understanding the needs of others, and ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Problem Solving and Critical Thinking: An ability to analyze complex problems and identify innovative solutions, the ability to adapt to changing technology trends and student needs, and the ability to be creative and think outside the box to develop creative and engaging learning experiences.
- Additional Qualities: A passion for learning, great attention to detail, able to manage time and prioritize projects, and an understanding of diverse cultures and backgrounds. A willingness to take on additional responsibility and work collaboratively

Physical Requirements:
- Work involves sedentary to light work in an office setting.
- There is frequent sitting, with walking, standing and stooping occasionally required.
- There is an occasional need to lift objects (up to 10 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
