Gravel Cycling National Championships Intern

Position Summary:  The USA Cycling National Championships Intern will support the execution of the event by assisting with volunteer coordination, expo organization, logistics management, and general event operations. This internship provides hands-on experience in sports event planning, community engagement, and project management within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Volunteer Coordination:
  • Recruit, schedule, and manage volunteers for race-day activities and event setup.
  • Communicate event details and expectations to volunteers.
  • Provide on-site support and troubleshooting for volunteers during the event.
• Expo Coordination:
  • Organize and manage vendor registration and logistics for the event expo.
  • Ensure vendor spaces are properly set up and compliant with event guidelines.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for exhibitors leading up to and during the event.
• Logistics and Operations:
  • Assist in racecourse setup, signage placement, and event infrastructure planning.
  • Support communication with USA Cycling officials and local authorities.
  • Coordinate with sponsors and partners to fulfill contractual obligations.
• Marketing and Community Engagement:
  • Engage with local businesses and organizations to enhance community involvement, including sponsorship acquisition & fulfillment.
  • Assist with promotional efforts with the Explore La Crosse & USAC marketing teams, including social media updates and local outreach.
  • Support content creation such as blog posts, photography, and event previews.

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a degree in Sports Management, Event Planning, Marketing, Hospitality, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, outdoor event setting.
• Passion for sports, cycling, or outdoor recreation is a plus.
