Teaching Assistant - Social and Decision Sciences

From creative writing to statistics and data science, behavioral economics to social and political history, Dietrich College is home to 11 humanities and social sciences departments, programs and institutes. Our world-class faculty and students work across subject areas to investigate and solve real-world problems.

 

Our Department of Social & Decision Sciences is seeking to hire a Teaching Assistant. This position will perform teaching and/or teaching related duties to assist faculty members, professors, department heads and other faculty.

 

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Providing teaching and/or teaching assistance
  • Proctoring exams, grades, tests and homework
  • Assigning materials in class as needed
  • Handing out assignments, obtaining materials needed for classes, including texts and other materials
  • Help guide and/or mentor students within data analysis, decision and quantitative analysis
  • Delivering lectures and preparing presentations for course related information
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree; preferably in any social science, statistics, economics and/or decision science is highly preferred
  • Content knowledge of the social sciences and/or economics
  • A background in statistics or programming (Python, SPSS or R) is necessary
  • Quantitative skills, interest and/or experience in research methods, data analysis, and decision analysis
  • Experience with teaching, working as a tutor or TA preferential
  • Must have a strong interest in helping and interacting with students
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • A combination of education and proven experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
