Events & Learning Programs Intern

Summary of Position:

The Events & Learning Programs Intern will provide hands-on support to both the Events and Learning departments, contributing to key initiatives that enhance NKBA’s programs, member experience, and industry engagement. This role is ideal for a highly organized, curious, and motivated student or recent graduate interested in event planning, education, marketing, and nonprofit operations.

The intern will assist with project coordination, research, content support, and administrative tasks across multiple ongoing efforts—including Fall 2025 events and the launch of new learning resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Event Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and execution of NKBA’s Fall 2025 events and other scheduled programs
  • Research and assess options for event formats, venues, and vendors; maintain clear documentation of findings
  • Support vendor selection through cost comparisons and proposal reviews
  • Track budgetary items and assist with budget reporting
  • Contribute creative ideas for event activations such as giveaways, décor, and activities
  • Meet with manager regularly to maintain open lines of communication
  • Perform administrative tasks, including data entry, email correspondence, and general project support
  • Collect industry news and trends for inclusion in the Global Connect newsletter
  • Explore engaging post-dinner activity options for guests, ideally featuring local experiences

Learning Department Responsibilities

  • Organize and facilitate focus groups to gather stakeholder feedback
  • Synthesize findings and propose direction for learning-related projects
  • Contribute to the development of a resource guide for a new volunteer initiative known as the “Certification Champion,” a national initiative
  • Support the Learning Department through additional research efforts relating to educational programs and schools
  • In addition to the in-person on-boarding process, attend at least one in-person meeting at the NKBA office in Bethlehem, PA; more in-person visits may be required as to be determined between the intern and NKBA staff
  • Meet with manager regularly to maintain open lines of communication
  • Perform administrative tasks, including data entry, email correspondence, and general project support

General Expectations

  • Attend onboarding and at least one in-person meeting at NKBA headquarters in Bethlehem, PA (with potential for additional visits as needed)
  • Participate in regular check-ins with assigned supervisors from both departments
  • Maintain organized records of research, communications, and project updates
  • Manage time effectively to support multiple departments simultaneously

Education & Skills:

  • Must be a college student currently enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education. 
  • Candidate must be a rising junior or senior. NKBA will also consider seniors graduating in May 2025. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with budgeting.

Physical Requirements

  • Hybrid Workplace: Intern will work in both a standard office environment with some remote work opportunities. Intern is required to travel to the HQ as needed for on-boarding and meetings or events as needed. In-person work is expected to be limited. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds, on occasion as needed, such as office products and supplies.
